There are many home ingredients that can be used to get rid of dandruff from the scalp. All these ingredients are natural and can be used easily. They are effective in their results and are completely safe. Above all, the main advantage of opting for a home remedy is they not only eradicate dandruff, but are also able to nourish their scalp and hair.

Apple Cider Vinegar:
Apple cider vinegar is known to be a convenient ingredient in homes and is useful in many different ailments and skin conditions. The vinegar helps in getting rid of the excess skin before it begins flaking off. If the dandruff is caused by fungus, the vinegar will work as an effective fungicide.
Directions: Mix water and vinegar in a cup. The total quantity may vary as per the amount of hair one has. Pour the mixture over the hair and massage on the scalp gently for a few minutes. Leave it for some time and rinse with cold water. Wait for 8-12 hours before shampooing the hair. The process can be repeated once or twice a week.
Use of Baking-Soda:
Baking soda is a common ingredient used in many recipes as well as a remedy to treat many infections. It is effective due to its exfoliating property that can help remove excess skin. It also acts as a fungicide. When the cause of dandruff is fungus, it can combine with the excess skin particles and remove them before they become flakes.
Directions: Simply mix one cup of warm water with baking soda. The mixture should be stirred and applied on the scalp. One can also use it as an alternative to shampoo as well.
Using Neem Leaves:
Neem is an Indian herb known for its numerous medicinal properties. It is also a great antibacterial and antiseptic ingredient. It can surely work wonders for your dandruff. Besides helping to soothe the scalp skin, its antifungal properties will ensure that there is no overgrowth of fungus that can aggravate the dandruff condition.
Directions: Add Neem leaves to the hot water. Allow the mixture to stand overnight. Obtain the mixture by straining it the next morning. This should then be used to rinse the hair. You can also use the paste could out of the leaves and applied on the scalp. Let the paste should sit for an hour before it is washed off with water.
Use of Lemon:
Lemon contains certain acidic properties, which helps to remove the flakes and minimize the excess oil from scalp. If the dandruff has been caused due to excess oil in the scalp, lemon juice can easily help to cut down its effect.
Directions: Apply two tablespoons of lemon juice directly to the scalp. Let it sit for a minute or two and then mix another spoon of lemon juice in the cup of water to rinse the hair with it. Make sure you don’t allow the lemon juice for too long as it can dry out the scalp.
